The Tell, tell! Series

tell-tellLearn through imaginative listening

Tell, tell! - the new series for the formation of faith, developed by Christian Literature Fund (CLF), strongly emphasises the telling and retelling of Bible stories. The value and joy of listening to stories, and of retelling thereof, are rediscovered and applied. Listen, imagine, tell and enjoy, forms the foundation of this series of five books.

This brilliantly written series, from the pen of Susan Goosen, well-known writer, teacher and mother of three, is further enhanced by the equally beautiful illustrations. This leads to stories that carry the message across and in turn fosters discussion and reflection.

A clear picture of events is painted in the mind of the listener (imaginative listening) and fixed by retelling. In this way, children are drawn into the story. The methodology ties up closely with the movement of oral learning which has given rise to a worldwide rediscovery of the value and joy of listening to stories, and of retelling them. The series aims to foster the formation of faith in children between the ages of 8 and 16. Each book in the series is prefaced by an explanation of the approach and the method to follow during lessons, and this is extremely easy to do! They also contain additional resources to be used during lessons. There are 30 stories in each book, making it ideal to use for youth ministry or Sunday school, as well as faith formation in the family context.

The titles in the series include:

Book 1, Where we begin (already available in Afrikaans, English, Sotho, Tswana, Xhosa and Zulu).

Book 2, Ordinary people in God's plan (available in Afrikaans, English, Sotho and Zulu).

Book 3, The Son of God becomes a human being (available in Afrikaans, English, Sotho and Zulu).

Book 4 God is sending us (available in Afrikaans and English).

Book 5 is scheduled to appear in October 2015.

Books 1 and 2 are also available on cd in audio format in both Afrikaans and English.

Attendance certificates and stickers are also available.
